Antinori: " We're being investigate by mistake" 
The Antinori group has been officially freed from the Brunello investigations. The judiciary of Siena has “released” the 120,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne 2003 that were, together with many other types of Brunello of the same vintage, under suspicion of having been produced with grapes other than Sangiovese which is the only one permitted by the Brunello disciplinary.

But the accusations regarding Antinori have now been disclaimed after the legal analyses conducted revealed the purity of the wine. Results that have brought relief to the Marchese Piero Antinori, president of the Florentine wine making company. In a recent interview with the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore Antinori commented on the positive results of the investigation but also highlighted that the damage to the company’s image is “difficult to quantify”.
He also talked about the situation his company is now in and the hypothesis of changing the rules for Brunello production.

Importanti modifiche ai disciplinari del franciacorta [it] 
Novità anche per il disciplinare di produzione del Franciacorta Docg: ridefinizione della base ampelografica, stabilendo che vitigni “base” sono lo Chardonnay e il Pinot nero, da soli e/o congiuntamente, senza specificazione di percentuali, mentre il Pinot bianco potrà concorrere fino al massimo del 50%; per il rosato, invece, la percentuale delle uve Pinot nero vinificate in rosa dovrà essere maggiore del 25% del totale (contro il 15% attuale), mentre il Pinot nero resta escluso per il Satèn , che diventa a tutti gli effetti una tipologia a sé stante, insieme al millesimato (37 mesi dalla vendemmia per l’immissione in consumo, di cui 30 di affinamento sui lieviti, praticamente identico a oggi) e alla riserva , tipologia nuova di zecca che di mesi prima dell’immissione in consumo ne necessita 67, di cui 60 passati sui lieviti.

Il Satèn inoltre, per il quale vengono introdotti 24 mesi di affinamento sui lieviti più 7 prima dell’immissione in consumo (lo stesso dicasi per il rosé), diviene un marchio, la cui gestione è affidata al Consorzio.

Ci saranno cambiamenti anche nel disciplinare della Doc Curtefranca, ex Terre di Frianciacorta in attesa di pubblicazione, dopo il parere positivo sul cambio di nome espresso a marzo dal Comitato Nazionale Vini. La tipologia bianco sarà minimo 50% Chardonnay, mentre Pinot bianco e nero potranno concorrere insieme o disgiuntamente per la quota restante.

I vini Barbera del Monferrato superiore ottengono la denominazione di origine controllata e garantita (Docg). Lo prevede il decreto del Ministero delle Politiche Agricole, pubblicato sulla Gazzetta Ufficiale dell’8 luglio, insieme al relativo disciplinare di produzione approvato.

Amarone conquer the French 
It seems that even the snobish French cousins have been conquered by Amarone of Valpolicella: a strong signal arrives from French Alain Ducasse, one of the most quoted chef in the world, who chose for his restaurant Adour, just opened at St. Regis in New York and already intended to enter the restaurants Gotha, seven Amaroni Masi: Costasera, Vaio Armaron, Campolongo di Torbe, Mazzano and three old vintages, confirming that the stronghold of French wines did not defende against 'Italian excellence.

The growing passion for Amarone della Valpolicella is confirmed by the prestigious French magazine "Revue du Vin de France" that in the selection of 100 best Italian wines puts two on the podium: Barolo Le Vigne di Vaio Sandrone and Armaron Amarone Classico 2003 Masi Serego Alighieri, who have passed, among other things, the famous Sassicaia and Tignanello.

Conterfeited champagne: big seizure in Parma 
The "Carabinieri of Anti Sophisticationcore Department (Nas) of Parma, during activities aimed at fighting food frauds, have seized thousands of bottles of a famous brand of French champagne, though perfectly wrapped, showed small differences (shades of ink used, size of the text labels, etc.) which were outlined by experts of the French champagne house, called by the military.

There are ongoing laboratory tests to verify what is the exact nature of the wine contained (surely is normal sparkling wine, but not dangerous for the health).

The bottles were loaded on two vans, stopped by the military, at the toll booth dell'A1 of Fiorenzuola, directed towards the Adriatic coast. It seems that the counterfeited products was intended for local Riviera, which is getting busy with incoming summer tourists.

The value of the product, in retail channels, amounts to 40,000 euros, but much more if purchased in discos or nightclubs.
