Introduction to the World of Wine course

Shanghai, September 3 and 4, 2016 - Italian Sommelier Association - club Shanghai held the first Introduction to the World of Wine seminar in Shanghai. The 2-days, 10-hours seminar was taught in English to an international group of 17 wine enthusiasts (from China, Italy, Philippines, Brazil) and included 4 lessons and 16 different wines.

Lesson 1 - “Viticulture, Enology and Wine Tasting Techniques” was presented by sommelier Simone Semprini and these wines were tasted:
- La Versa, Cuvee Storica DOCG Traditional Method
- Tolloy, Gewurztramier Alto Adige Sudtirolo DOC 2013
- Mazzei, Fonterutoli Chianti Classico DOCG 2013
- Cantina del Notaio, L’Atto Aglianico del Volture DOC 2012

Lesson 2 - “Italian Wines: all 20 Italian Regions” was presented by sommelier Vito Donatiello and these wines were tasted:
- Valdo, Cuvee del Fondatore, Prosecco Superiore DOCG Millesimato 2013 (Italy)
- Venturini, Semonte Alto Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC 2013 (Italy)
- Fattoria del Cerro, Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2011 (Italy)
- Cantina Tollo, Colle Secco Rubi Montepulciano DOC 2010 (Italy)

Lesson 3 - “Old World Wines: France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Hungary” was presented by sommelier Claudio Grillenzoni and these wines were tasted:
- Vicente Gandia, El Miracle Cava (Spain)
- Selbach Oster, Riesling Cabinett Mosel 2014 (Germany)
- Chateau Haut-Vigneau, Pessac-Leognan AOC 2009 (France)
- Nieport, Porto LBV 2011 (Portugal)

Lesson 4 - “New World Wines: USA, Canada, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China” was presented by sommelier Simone Semprini and these wines were tasted:
- Oyster Bay, Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2014 (New Zealand)
- Sunny Cliff, Chardonnay 2015 (Australia)
- Van Rykberg, Pinotage 2013 (South Africa)
- Liberty, Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 (California)
